A growing collection of creative, thoughtful resources for therapists, coaches and healing practitioners.
Designed by me, Kaz Hazelwood, these offerings invite movement, metaphor, introspection and pause. These support deep work with identity, parts, embodiment, and story.
Everything is grounded in lived experience and made with care.
I’ve crafted each one with real-life clients in mind; the ones who need gentle openings, symbolic language, playful exploration, or a bridge between body and story.
These aren’t generic downloads. They’re connected solid theory, but hopefully they feel like sitting under a tree with someone who sees you.
How did it begin?
When I was training to become a therapist, I was fascinated by how well creative exercises worked within my peer group. Later, in private practice, I began using some of those same ideas with clients and saw just how powerful they were. They didn’t just support my clients, they often helped uncover the unconscious in ways that words alone couldn’t. That’s when I started building more.
It began with scribbles on a whiteboard. Shapes, metaphors, little diagrams. Slowly, they turned into visual prompts and exercises. My background in brand marketing nudged me forward, helping me shape the tools in a way that felt clear and inviting. I found them so useful that I wanted to share them, not just with therapists, but with coaches, teachers, and anyone working in the helping professions, especially those seeking to explore the quieter, deeper stories that often go untold.
You may recognise some of the exercises or models, and that’s no accident. I’m proudly carrying forward the wisdom of the great theoretical minds who came before us, reimagining their insights in a more visually accessible and creative way.
Whether you’re piecing together theories to support you through your studies and beyond, or offering a client a fresh perspective that gently shifts something deep within, these resources are here to support that process.
This is about honouring the roots while helping new growth emerge, with clarity, creativity and compassion.
Seemless integration - inside, outside and online
When I’m with a client, I want to integrate an activity seamlessly into our session without disrupting the flow. I never plan in advance which resource we might use, so for me, it’s crucial that any image or prompt is simple enough to introduce on the fly, and clear enough to land with someone who might be struggling. Time is precious, so these resources have been created with that in mind, they're intentionally uncluttered and easy to use.
Online sessions – These resources are designed to be used directly on your laptop or screen-shared with clients. No printing needed (I rarely do myself - better for the flow, better for the planet).
In-person sessions – If you do prefer something tangible, they’re easy to print and use as visual prompts or written exercises during face-to-face work.
Outdoor sessions – When I’m working in nature, I don’t carry anything with me. Instead, we use what’s around us; trees, textures, found words, pine cones, the rhythm of our steps etc, guided by the same therapeutic principles behind these tools.
Flexible use – Whether you're walking, talking, screen-sharing or sitting side-by-side, these resources are simple, adaptable, and made to integrate seamlessly into the natural rhythm of your sessions.
You’ll probably want to read through them beforehand (as I do), but you’ll get the hang of them quickly. My hope is that they feel intuitive, useful, and that they bring satisfying results for both you and your clients.
I've witnessed many quiet breakthroughs through these creative companions and I hope you do too.
Why Hazel Wood?
Well, apart from it being my surname, I wanted to create a space that could grow with me. A place where each resource could be imagined and grown like a tree, a fern, a vine or a flower, rooted in my deep love of nature and all its quiet wisdom.
As an ecotherapist, I often work with clients outdoors, walking and talking beneath trees, beside water or through open fields. Nature is not just a backdrop for this work, it’s a co-facilitator. And so it made perfect sense that the creative work I offer would grow from that same fertile earth.
I also wanted Hazel Wood to feel welcoming for children, should these resources be used in schools or with younger clients — but not in a childish way. More like a woodland glade, where something gentle and meaningful might begin to unfold.
Hazel Wood is a wild, evolving landscape. A space where creative ideas can take root and bloom in many directions. If there’s something you don’t see but would like, just reach out — I’d be happy to grow it with you.steppingout.life@gmail.com
Every download helps plant trees
With every Hazel Wood resource you download, one penny will be donated to One Tree Planted to help nurture new saplings around the world. It’s a small gesture, but as pennies add up, they support the creation and restoration of precious woodlands; repairing ancient forests, establishing community green spaces and organising tree-planting days that families, schools, and local groups can enjoy together.
"Creativity and Client Growth Share Roots”
Therapeutic Tools for the Wild, Wise & Wondering
Each one is a spark - an invitation into depth, curiosity, and transformation. These are more than worksheets. They’re companions. Conversation starters. Invitations to look inward, speak outward, and bring the invisible into the light.
Transformational Therapy Inside and Out
That’s the heartbeat of this work. These resources don’t just help your clients think differently, they invite them to feel, move, make, and shift from within. And as they do, the outer world begins to feel more liveable, more breathable and more truly theirs.
