Hello,

I’m Kaz Hazelwood, a qualified counsellor and coach, with a deep belief in the power of insight, metaphor and creativity to support change.

I walk with clients outside in and around Tring, Hertfordshire and a large part of my work is done online. I am also a parent, music lover, walker, writer and formerly a fitness instructor, nutrition coach and project manager. I am the co-founder of Counselling Toolkit, an online CPD provider for therapists and coaches and I design nature-inspired digital creative resources for clients.

Warm regards

My Approach

Biodynamic Therapy

I work within a nature-inspired framework I call Biodynamic Therapy, using a model I’ve developed known as The Ecology of Self, inspired by the work of Norwegian philosopher Arne Næss.

I’ve developed a creative, integrative approach that blends established psychological theory with original tools I’ve designed, to help clients understand themselves more clearly and compassionately.

My living systems approach helps us remember, that we’re not machines to be fixed, but living beings with patterns, cycles and needs. It views the self as an internal ecosystem – shaped by relationships, environments, culture and protective adaptations. When parts of that system become overwhelmed or disconnected, we explore it together with care to understand what needs tending, what’s been buried, and what conditions might allow you to grow, heal and reconnect with who you are. alk with clie, Hertfordshire and a large part of my work is done online.

I am also a parent, music lover, walker, writer and formerly a fitness instructor, nutrition coach and project manager. I am the founder of Counselling Toolkit, an online CPD provider for therapists and coaches and I design nature-inspired digital creative resources for therapists and clients.

My practice combines therapeutic insight with coaching structure where beneficial, creating a space that's both healing and action-oriented. I help you explore underlying patterns, whilst developing practical strategies for moving forward. I listen without judgement and allow you to tell me about you and your challenges and situations from a non-bias point of view.

I am predominantly a person-centred integrative therapist, which means the sessions are led by you and I seemlessly incorporate various theories and practical elements into our sessions, including activities and other approaches such as:

  • Internal Family Systems - understanding your internal personality parts

  • Transactional analysis - looking at relationships

  • Schemas, Attachment and Psychodynamic theories - exploring childhood and other life stage influences

  • Gestalt - working with feelings in the here and now

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) - looking at alternative patterns of thinking and behaviour.

  • Creative Therapy including bespoke visualisations.

What is Creative Therapy?

Not all therapy looks the same.

We might use metaphor, story, images, diagrams or simple objects to help make sense of what’s happening. I also create bespoke visualisations based on your unique experience. These aren’t meditations or scripts – they’re co-created moments of insight, gathered from your sessions, that let you step outside the old narrative and look at things in a new way.

Clients often find this helps them connect thoughts, feelings and behaviours more deeply – and opens up real movement where they were stuck before.

All of this is done safely and with care. There’s no pressure to try anything that doesn’t feel right for you and if you want to purely talk, that’s okay too.

Working with Nature – Online and Outside
Even when we’re working online, I often bring in ideas from nature – landscapes, weather patterns, animals and root systems – to help clients reflect on the rhythms and patterns in their own lives.

I also offer outdoor sessions where metaphor and movement can unfold naturally, and where your body has space to lead.
