Professionally Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Ecotherapist & Coach

Hello,

I’m Kaz Hazelwood, a qualified therapist and coach, with a deep belief in the power of insight, metaphor and creativity to support change. Being a therapist is my sole and soul career, and it’s important to me to dedicate time and effort during our sessions, as well as in between for you to get the best out of therapy. Every single one of my clients inspires me, and I make it my mission to build a sound therapeutic relationship with you, to take you to where you need to be in your unique life.

I walk with clients outside in and around Tring, Hertfordshire and a large part of my work is done online throughout the UK and Western Europe. I am a parent, music lover, walker, writer and formerly a fitness instructor, nutrition coach, graphic designer and project manager, having worked in a multitude of different areas including HR, Marketing and IT.

I am the creator of Biodynamic Therapy, an integrative, whole-person approach that honours mind, body, emotions, and environment. It helps clients uncover patterns, reconnect with their inner resources, and find meaningful ways forward that feel both authentic and sustainable. For coaching sessions, I also use my self-developed PATHS Coaching Model, which weaves together Purpose, Awareness, Transition and Habit, and Self-Empowerment to create clarity, confidence and lasting change.

You can know that you are on your own personal pathway and this is all about you.

I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Warm regards

My Approach - Counselling & Pyschotherapy

Biodynamic Therapy

I work within a nature-inspired framework I call Biodynamic Therapy, using a model I’ve developed known as The Ecology of Self, inspired by the work of Norwegian philosopher Arne Næss.

It is an integrative approach, that blends established psychological theory with original tools that I have thoughtfully designed. This can help clients understand themselves more clearly and compassionately, sparking reflection to carry therapeutic insights beyond the session into daily life.

My living systems approach helps us remember, that we’re not machines to be fixed, but living beings with patterns, cycles and needs. It views the self as an internal ecosystem – shaped by relationships, environments, culture and protective adaptations. When parts of that system become overwhelmed or disconnected, we explore it together with care to understand what needs tending, what’s been buried, and what conditions might allow you to grow, heal and reconnect with who you are.

For more information, you can read my blog post here.

Nature-based Walk and Talk Therapy (Ecotherapy)

Walk and Talk Therapy takes place outdoors, bringing counselling into gentle movement and natural surroundings. Walking side by side can make it easier to talk freely, easing the intensity that sometimes comes with sitting face to face.

Being in nature supports reflection and calm, helping you process thoughts and emotions while also grounding in the present moment. There’s no rush and no set pace, as the session follows your rhythm, whether that’s a quiet stroll or a steady walk.

We might pause to notice what’s around us, using the environment as a way to connect with what’s happening inside. Some people find it easier to explore difficult feelings this way; others simply value the space and fresh air. It’s not about fitness or goals, but about being alongside someone who listens while the natural world offers its quiet backdrop.

Walk and Talk Therapy is a flexible, nature-based option for those who prefer sessions outdoors, while offering the same level of care, confidentiality and depth as any other counselling session.

You can interchange sessions depending on how you feel; online one week, outdoors the next. It’s your choice.

Creative Therapy

Not all therapy looks the same.

We might use metaphor, story, images, diagrams or simple objects to help make sense of what’s happening. I also create bespoke visualisations based on your unique experience. These aren’t meditations or scripts – they’re co-created moments of insight, gathered from your sessions, that let you step outside the old narrative and look at things in a new way.

Clients often find this helps them connect thoughts, feelings and behaviours more deeply – and opens up real movement where they were stuck before.

All of this is done safely and with care. There’s no pressure to try anything that doesn’t feel right for you and if you want to purely talk, that’s okay too.

Working with Nature – Online and Outside
Even when we’re working online, I often bring in ideas from nature – landscapes, weather patterns, animals and root systems – to help clients reflect on the rhythms and patterns in their own lives.

I also offer outdoor sessions where metaphor and movement can unfold naturally, and where your body has space to lead.

Coaching Philosophy & Approach

My coaching philosophy is about creating real space for clients to think, reflect, and gain insight without judgment or interruption. I value silence as much as dialogue, giving people time to slow their thoughts, hear themselves clearly, and uncover their own answers.

I bring compassion, curiosity, and authenticity to every session. Compassion providing a safe and supportive container, curiosity helping us to explore challenges and strengths and authenticity means I show up as myself and encourage clients to do the same.

My approach blends calm presence with practical frameworks like GROW and OSKAR, along with my own PATHS model, which I designed to support clients in navigating challenges with clarity and purpose. I also draw on creative techniques and somatic check-ins where helpful. For me, coaching is always a co-creative process: clients are the experts on themselves, and my role is to hold the space, ask the right questions, and offer structure that leads to clarity, confidence, and meaningful change.

I offer coaching as a stand-alone process, with the flexibility to draw on counselling and psychotherapy if and when it supports your goals. At the start we will talk through what you are looking for, so the approach is shaped around your needs and aspirations.

What informs my practice?

I offer counselling and psychotherapy as the foundation of this work, with the option to bring in coaching where it can help you clarify goals or move forward with practical steps. Together we will explore what you need, so the approach feels supportive, flexible, and tailored to you. I help you explore underlying patterns, whilst developing practical strategies for moving forward. I listen without judgement and allow you to tell me about you and your challenges and situations from a non-bias point of view.
