The Restless Brain - ADHD, Addiction & The Search for Quiet
This article is published in the NCPS magazine; Counselling Matters: Neurodivergence (October 2025) to explore the uneasy link between ADHD and addiction. It’s a subject that’s often misunderstood or overlooked, yet deeply relevant to so many people seeking calm in a restless mind. In the article, I reflect on how the drive for focus and quiet can sometimes lead to risky shortcuts, and why understanding this connection could transform the way we approach both diagnosis and recovery.
The Power of Community
This article is published in the NCPS magazine; Counselling Matters: Caring (October 2024). In it, I explore themes close to my heart; the balance of care and boundaries, the challenge of sustaining compassion, and the ways therapists can stay grounded in their own wellbeing. I hope it resonates with you, whether you’re in a helping role or simply curious about the emotional landscapes of care.
Why Salmon Swim Upstream - E-book
In 'Why Salmon Swim Upstream', I invite reader on a unique journey of self-discovery and mindfulness, designed not as a traditional self-help manual, but as a companion for personal exploration. Drawing parallels with the salmon's upstream struggle, the book explores the challenges of modern life; overwhelm, isolation, and societal pressures, whilst emphasising the importance of purpose and resilience.
I share exercises and reflections that encourage you to engage with your own thoughts and experiences. From the power of gratitude, to the art of letting go, each chapter introduces a new theme, inviting you to approach life with curiosity and a sense of humour. The exercises are designed to be approachable and personal, allowing you to reflect on your unique journeys without the pressure of perfection.
Insomnia
I had the privilege of acting as the review editor for the Counselling Directory’s article on insomnia. In that piece, we explore why many of us struggle with sleep, how persistent insomnia affects daily life, and the ways counselling and therapeutic techniques, including CBT-I, can help you find better rest. My hope is that this work supports you in understanding your sleep and feeling empowered to find gentler, sustainable solutions.
